So, spring is here and there’s a touch of light rain – we’ve had surprisingly little since Christmas. O’Donnells are laying the upper floors in sections and then post-tensioning the slab in order to reduce the floor thickness and avoid too many deep beams. This method backfires on us slightly at this stage – it doesn’t allow us the same flexibility as the more traditional slab. If we hadn’t gone down this route we could probably have pulled back some of our initial lost time. A lesson learned. Still, the building is starting to take shape – and it’s less than a year until we open. Crikey.
