Stressed by the idea of having to get your house tidy and sparkling in time for the Christmas break?
Well spare a thought of Hotel La Tour Head Housekeeper Sadie Sanders who, together with her team, has the year-round task of polishing and plumping, shining and sweeping, tucking and titivating to keep our building beautiful.
Sadie joined the team a few weeks prior to the hotel opening in March 2012.
What did you do before you joined La Tour?
I was a part-time room attendant at a hotel while studying a BTEC National Diploma in Hotel Management. I worked at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham for five years progressing through the housekeeping department to become Assistant Housekeeping Manager. After that I worked in Dubai in a corporate hotel and resort hotel. My last property was a pre-opening of 180 luxury serviced apartments. I have also worked for Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and been involved in VIP functions. I returned to the UK as I had achieved all my goals and I missed my family. I joined Ardencote Manor Hotel as Housekeeping Manager and was there for two years before coming to Hotel La Tour.
What do you most like about Birmingham?
It has a brilliant, central location and my family and friends are here.
The best thing about working in the city centre is … being able to pop to the shops.
What attracted you to work here?
I love the buzz of a pre-opening and the opportunity to set up a department from scratch.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Zumba, shop, socialise and walk in the countryside.
My favourite TV show is … Homeland.
And my favourite style of food is … sushi, noodles, fine dining or Italian.
