7 Ways to Treat Your Dad This Father’s Day

What does your dad really want to do this Father’s Day?  Of course, the answer ultimately depends on his hobbies and interests, but here are seven great ideas to help you start planning his special day:

For a dad who loves his sports

Nothing will beat watching the World Cup in an atmospheric venue with a drink in hand.  Although the England vs Italy group stage match takes place the day before Father’s Day, a sports loving dad will love to watch the game.  As you would expect, a number of places in Birmingham will be showing the game on big screens.  You can get him into a pub around town, or for an experience that is a little different, try taking him to watch it at the Electric Cinema in the City Centre.

For a dad who values time with family

A big get together with extended relatives allows everyone in the family to celebrate together.  All the dads in the family can share a few drinks, stories and a few laughs over a long lunch.  If weather permits, a barbecue will be relaxing and fun for everyone.

For a dad who enjoys dining out

Many restaurants and eateries in the city are offering special Father’s Day menus.  For a refined experience that gives you great value for money, try the 3 course Sunday Lunch at Hotel La Tour.  Not only will your dad be enjoying dishes made with fantastic local produce, he will also be serenaded with live singing if you dine between 1pm and 5pm.

For a dad who is a bit of a film buff

Arranging a trip to the cinema would be an obvious choice, but you can make it more special by taking him to a screening at the Midlands Arts Centre (MAC).  They offer a diverse cinema programme covering new releases, classics and art-house films.

For a foodie sort of dad

A beer, wine or food preparation course would be a heavenly experience for dads who love their food.  Not only will you be helping to harness his passions, he will also come back with the skills to make some new dishes or give you great drink recommendations.

For a dad who appreciates a few laughs

You can take him to a comedy show.  There are always plenty of shows on around town so check your local guide.

For a dad who just wants to relax

This one is for families with young children – take everyone to the Birmingham Town Hall to watch a family production.  Kids will marvel at the impressive building and be kept entertained by the great shows on offer, so dads can just relax and enjoy the day out as well.
