It’s official: Brummies love good food and drink and they’ve embraced social media.
This is what happened when Hotel La Tour Birmingham hosted the city’s first social media food fair. #FutureFoodies was the chance to showcase some great food and drink from independent, local producers and was promoted solely on social media.
And what a response: some 500 people came along. The event received rave reviews and more than 1,000 individual messages were posted on twitter using the FutureFoodies hashtag.
The event was the brainchild of Dine Birmingham creator and editor Ahmed Ahmed who said: “It’s all about celebrating the city’s independent food scene and its thriving community of social media foodies. We brought together around 20 selected producers from Birmingham and the West Midlands who spread out their stalls for visitors to sip and nibble their way through, meet the people behind the products and hear about where there food comes from and how it’s made.”
Hotel La Tour Operations Director Adrian Colman said: “It was a great opportunity to showcase independent producers and to really show to the outside world the great food and drink story which the city has. We are proud to be a part of it.”
